Hiking in the Aravis Massif
With its many viewpoints toward Mont Blanc, the Aravis massif is one of the most beautiful areas in the Alps. In summer, hiking is a great way to get out and discover the area.
With trails suitable for everything from gentle family outings to more challenging all-day hikes, there is something on offer to suit all tastes. To make it easier to get up the mountain, a number of La Clusaz's lifts are open during the summer season.
From local wildlife to Reblochon cheese
Walk through the mountain pastures to the sound of cowbells, taking time to stop at one of the farms producing the area's famous Reblochon cheese. Walking in La Clusaz is also a great way to discover the area's wildlife. With a bit of luck, you can spot species such as marmottes, chamois or even bouquetin.
Did you know ? It is even possible to see the bearded vulture, Europe's largest raptor.
The Lac des Confins, an easy walk
By way of an example, the natural Lac de Confins is situated five kilometres from the centre of La Clusaz at the foot of the Aravis valleys. In summer, there is a magnificent, easy walk to the lake that is accessible to all. Once you get there, you can enjoy the golf course, zip-line, or set off on one of the many more hiking trails that start at the lake.
Climbing - Get Up Close to the SummitsLa Clusaz is also an important mountaineering destination, and is a veritable climbers' paradise with 130 routes on natural terrain of varying levels of difficulty. To get you started or help develop your skills, experienced guides and instructors are on hand. The "Rocher des Aravis", for example, is one of the region's best-known climbing spots.
Did you know ? Want to try something different? Via Ferrata is a cross between climbing and an adventure trail, allowing you to safely explore the exceptional route along high-altitude cliff faces.

Horse riding is fun, but a ride in the mountains in a beautiful and fascinating environment is something else. Accessible to riders of all levels, horse riding in La Clusaz will transport you to a different world.
Experienced and intermediate equestrians can get up high and enjoy a two to three hour ride through the mountain pastures. For beginners, a one hour ride through the forest is a great introduction to being on horseback.
