5 ideas for a chalet atmosphere at home

Tips & Guides

on 17 November 2020

What if you could escape to the mountains without leaving your living room? There's nothing like a cocooning interior to face a confinement or an approaching winter!

Le Chalet - Saint Martin de Belleville - Cimalpes

Wood for an authentic style

Warm up your interior with the flagship material of a chalet: wood! An oak table; wooden chairs that you can cover with fake fur; a piece of beech sofa... The more authentic your decoration looks, the more you will establish a real chalet spirit.

Chalet Haapiti - Méribel - Cimalpes

A touch of (fake) fur

On chairs, carpets or on the bed, faux fur can be used everywhere. It brings warmth to your home and has been very trendy for a few years now. In white or pastel colour, choose your favourite colour and play the card in your living room, bedroom or even outside. The same goes for the plaids and cushions for a warm and cosy atmosphere!

Chalet Ararat - Megève - Cimalpes

A fireplace corner

Whether or not you are lucky enough to have a fireplace, you can take care of the atmosphere to create or care for this warm and relaxing corner. A comfortable armchair to curl up next to the fireplace, a carpet arranged to slide your feet into the material, a candle with the scent of "wood fire" to find the woody and warm smell of a real fireplace.

Scented candles

There's nothing like dimming the lights and lighting a few candles to have a few little points of light in a living room. Why not also add some pretty light garlands in the corners of the room, around windows or furniture to add an even more cosy touch. For the scent of candles? Orange, cinnamon, grilled apples, truffle, honey, saffron, gingerbread... Don't hesitate to play with the scents.

Chalet Grande Roche - Courchevel - Cimalpes

Designing your balcony or terrace

Add dozens of cushions, warm blankets, garlands of light, lanterns, outdoor heating and you can relax over a glass of mulled wine or a cup of tea and enjoy the fresh air!
