The mountains are just as beautiful as they were before the crisis. This festive season will be unusual, but it will also be an opportunity to enjoy a different holiday experience
This unique season will allow us to share the most essential values of the mountains, such as being in nature, sharing and well-being. The exceptional circumstances of 2020 mean that this winter will offer us an opportunity to reimagine the mountain holiday experience and how we spend our time there. Resort professionals are vying to be the most creative and energetic, helping you find new ways to enjoy their mountain playgrounds. Here is a brief overview of the latest information we have available.
The opening of the resort is scheduled for 18 December. It will be possible to practice open-air sports. Hiking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking on snow will be this season's star activities. Service providers will be able to offer you activities such as dog sledding, introduction to biathlon, or a fat bike excursion. The multimedia library, cinema, and museum will open from 15 December in line with everywhere in France. Cultural tours will also be on offer.
Val Thorens has been voted World's Best Ski Resort for the 7th time. This festive season, Val Thorens is rising to the challenge and intends to show the world that it has plenty to offer in addition to its unbeatable ski area. Assuming that the government authorities allow it, it will be possible to try out ski touring on marked and patrolled routes. The area already offers numerous walking and snowshoeing trails for the enjoyment of hikers.
The charming resort of Saint Martin de Belleville will welcome holidaymakers from 15 December. The area is getting ready to offer outdoor activities, with walking trails, including the Les Bruyères lake sector, being groomed for your enjoyment. Guides or ski instructors will be on hand to lead family groups of up to six people. And finally, the Saint Martin de Belleville museum and the Maison de l’Abeille Noire et de la Nature in Les Ménuires will be showcasing the history and culture of the Belleville Valley.
The wide-open spaces of Méribel will allow you to enjoy the pure mountain air during the festive season. All walking tracks will be maintained and accessible, allowing mountain lovers to explore the best trails in the Tuéda nature reserve. It will also be possible for families to enjoy horse rides departing from the equestrian centre. New for 2020 is the Kenothèque, a space dedicated to children (and the young at heart), situated at the visitor centre and around the lake at the Tuéda natural reserve.
Numerous activities will be on offer in Courchevel this festive season. The 87km of walking and snowshoeing trails will be groomed and the cross country ski trails will be maintained and accessible. Depending on the end-of-year government decisions, ski touring will be possible on some selected routes, allowing as many people as possible to try out a sport that puts you in touch with the true values of the mountains. Visitors will also be able to marvel at the Father Christmas parade through the various villages which will take place on 22, 23, and 24 December.
